The Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University is currently conducting searches for a faculty member at either the Associate or Full Professor ranks as part of its State University of New York (SUNY) Empire Innovation Program (EIP) hires in the areas of Advanced Materials Sciences and Infectious Diseases. EIP faculty members are expected to expand and strengthen SUNY’s research capacity in strategic priority areas through cutting-edge research activities, cross-disciplinary collaborations, dynamic entrepreneurial activities, and contributions to the health and economic vitality of New York State. We seek recognized leaders in their fields with an international reputation for outstanding research in addition to established track records of scholarly achievements, high-impact publications, and significant external funding. Successful candidates not only have proven experience directing Centers and Institutes for Research but also serve on scientific advisory boards and professional societies. As such, we seek applicants whose exemplary record in research and teaching has prepared them not only to contribute to our institutional mission to educate and train a broad student population but also to serve as mentors for our junior faculty and aspiring researchers. LECTURER POSITION - CHEMISTRY
STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY invites applications for a one-year, renewable, non-tenure track lecturer position in the Department of Chemistry beginning in January 2026.
Stony Brook is a research university with a strong commitment to curricular innovation. The position includes opportunities for curriculum development and for training and supervision of teaching assistants in the Department's undergraduate chemistry courses. Initial assignment will likely be in our organic chemistry courses, and may include both lecture and laboratory components. Proficiency and comfort with teaching other areas of Chemistry would be considered favorably. A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or related fields is required. Previous experience administering large lecture or lab courses would be a plus.
