Solutions to the Energy Transition
Challenges in the New York City Region
Join us for an interactive event where you'll hear from regional thought, and action leaders spearheading the clean energy transition in NYC and the surrounding region. Experts from across the energy ecosystem will kick off the session, setting the stage for a dynamic roundtable brainstorming event and later panel discussion. Together, we'll explore today's solutions to the pressing challenges of electrification and decarbonization, with a special focus on the crucial role of energy storage in ensuring grid reliability and integration of clean energy sources.
Registration is Closed
NYS and NYC have established targets for decarbonization that are supported by legislation such as the CLCPA and Local Law 97. These targets depend largely on the availability of reliable green electricity that can be delivered to the point of use. There are significant obstacles on both a macro level regarding generation and transmission, and on a local level with distribution. There are many applications where full electrification is difficult or cost prohibitive. There are a range of decarbonization technologies such as heat pumps, geothermal, advanced building management software, efficiency enhancing products and carbon free fuels that can be deployed as transitional and permanent solutions for decarbonization.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience this robust multi-formatted event that includes experts representing a range of key technologies, end users and utility partners will provide thought provoking information on the needed energy transition in the State, and how energy storage is a critical component to the effort.

Energy Storage: Where Technology is Now, and Where it May Go:
The ability to store energy is an essential capability that is required to make the transition from combustion of fossil fuels to renewable energy. Significant progress has been made with grid level Li-ion batteries in recent years but there have been setbacks. This includes local opposition to installation of new systems. A panel consisting of technology, utility and policy experts will provide insight into the status for deploying Li-ion batteries, issues and approaches to address from a policy, regulation and technology perspective.
