Call for Nominations for the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence

Each year, the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence acknowledges truly outstanding undergraduate student achievement. The Division of Undergraduate Education is seeking nominations of seniors who have demonstrated and been recognized for the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership, campus involvement, community service, arts (creative or performing), athletics, and/or career achievement. Stony Brook University is eligible to nominate up to 15 candidates. Successful candidates will be invited to the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany for an awards ceremony and reception held in April.

To be eligible for consideration, students must be graduating between June 2018 and May 2019; and should complete the online Chancellor's nomination/application form found here: https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/due/awards

Only awards received while at Stony Brook should be included on the form. A GPA of 3.5 or above is recommended. The campus deadline for nominations is December 21, 2018. Eligible nominees are encouraged to complete the online nomination/application form. Reference letters are not required.

Search for the Next Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education

The search for the next Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education has commenced. In this role, the Dean and Vice Provost will provide direction, support, oversight, and advocacy for graduate and professional education and research at Stony Brook University. The search for the next Dean of University Libraries has commenced. In this role, the Dean will lead the planning and advancement of Stony Brook’s libraries, as well as execute the strategic vision for the library system. The search for the next Associate Vice President for Professional Education and Assistant Provost for Engaged Learning in the School of Professional Development has commenced. In this role, the Associate Vice President is responsible for developing policies and procedures that support the School of Professional Development. This colleague will collaboratively engage and strategize with internal university departments to establish best practices and create an innovative culture that utilizes the Associate Vice President’s vast experience in continuing education. S-BOLD 2018-2019 Application

The Stony Brook Online Learning Development (S-BOLD) 2018-2019 application is now open. The purpose of this initiative is to expand high demand courses to improve time-to-graduation rates. Proposers should illustrate how their proposed courses will provide more seats to meet growing demand. The maximum award for the S-BOLD grant is $10,000. Below are important dates to consider:

    • Submission Deadline: Feb 15, 2019
    • Announcement of Award: April 19, 2019
    • Development Effort: May-August 2019
    • Launch of New Courses: Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Summer 2020
