 Extent,Scope, and Content Note The collection is comprised of 10 linear inches of papers and files collected by Jerome
                                 Levitan related to the Union Free School District No.5, Levittown between 1952 and 1954. Levitan was elected
                                    as a trustee to the Union Free School District No.5, Levittown in May 1953. In July 1953, it was announced that he was elected president president of the District
                                       5 School Board. He served through 1955.

 Historical NoteLevitan was a graduate of Cornell University (BA, 1944; MBA 1948), he served in Europe during WWII
                                    as a combat officer, achieved the rank of captain, and was awarded the Bronze Star
                                    and Oak Leaf Cluster for bravery under fire. He began his career in New York City
                                    with the Port Authority of New York in municipal finance. He then worked at Revlon,
                                    Inc. for 33 years, where he was Vice President of Marketing. Throughout his life he
                                    was actively involved with many community and educational groups. (Source: obituary,
