Squires (born circa 1826 in Sag Harbor, Suffolk County, New York) was the daughter of Stephen Squires (born about 1791 in Water Mill, Suffolk County, New York) and Nancy Strong (born September 24, 1793, Bridgehampton, Suffolk County, New York).  She married Edward Bingly Hill on December 7, 1847 in Southampton, Suffolk County, New York.  They had three children: Julia Lockwood Hill Alling (1849–1916), George D Hill (1853–1909), and Edward Buchanan "Ed" Hill (1857–1940). Squires died sometime before 1888 in Sag Harbor.

Through her writing, she explored themes of nature, spirituality, and the passage of time. Titles of her works in the composition book include “On the New Year,” “On Gratitude,” “Mountains,” and “On Fall and Winter.”
