 Provenance This collection was donated in two accessions: gift of Oakley C. Johnson in 1971-1972; and gift of Priscilla Johnson Ciccariello (daughter) in 1977.
 Extent,Scope, and Content Note Oakley Calvin Johnson (March 22, 1890-August 1976) was a teacher, author, and radical
                                 social activist. He served on the staff of The Daily Worker, edited The Monthly Review, and authored several books on American radicalism. The collection is comprised of
                                 33 cubic ft. of correspondence, typescripts, articles, speeches, reviews, photographs, diaries, notes
                                    and clippings relating to Johnson's career as teacher, author, social activist, and
                                    member of the Communist Party of the United States. It includes family papers and
                                    letters from his first wife, Mary Olmsted Johnson.
