Brief Description of Duties:
The Senior Licensing Associate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of technologies in the engineering and physical sciences, including identifying, evaluating, marketing and licensing inventions and software developed by SUNY Stony Brook and Research Foundation faculty and staff. The incumbent is responsible for such activities being conducted under optimal financial and legal conditions and in compliance with the SUNY patent and copyright policy and sponsor regulations. Ideally, the successful incumbent must have technology transfer experience, a proven track record of successfully negotiating intellectual property license agreements, other complex agreements (e.g., sponsored research agreements, collaboration agreements or equity agreements) and demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing contracts.Specific activities include, but are not limited to, evaluating the commercial potential of inventions, as well as preparing non-confidential material, developing and implementing marketing strategies for each technology. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for drafting and negotiating terms of commercialization agreements and other agreements including, but not limited to, options, licenses, material transfer agreements and confidentiality agreements. The incumbent may supervise interns and other junior members of the licensing team. The incumbent may occasionally need to function as an alliance manager on ad-hoc basis for collaborations associated with technologies in their portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for activities associated with ensuring post agreement compliance.

The Office of Proposal Development is one of seven units within the OVPR, whose mission is to support Stony Brook’s research and scholarly community in its pursuit of extramural funding by fostering collaborations with partners.

This role involves drafting, negotiating, and managing research contracts, including clinical trial agreements, testing and laboratory study agreements, research collaborations, and industry-sponsored contracts. The specialist ensures compliance with university policies and federal/state regulations while liaising with faculty, sponsors, and administrative offices to streamline contract execution.
The Senior Contracts and Clinical Trials Specialists work within the scope of contracts and protocols to prepare, distribute, track and file contracts and clinical trials documents. Due to legal and ethical issues, they must adhere to stringent guidelines to make sure that contracts and trials are credible, and subjects are protected. Brief Description of Duties:
The Data Use Agreement Manager reports to the Director for Research Security in the Office of Research Security part of the Office for Research and Innovation. The DUA Contract Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of Data Use Agreements (DUAs), Data Transfer Agreements, Membership Agreements, Participation Agreements, Consortium Agreements, and related data sharing contracts. The manager ensures that all data exchanges with external parties comply with federal regulations, privacy laws (such as HIPAA and GDPR), institutional policies, and contractual obligations. The Research Security Program Assistant will report to the Director of Research Security in the Office of Research Security. This position will provide support for the Research Security program at the university, ensuring compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations. This position will support the Director of Research Security with the triaging of information and reports to assist the Director in the investigation and response to foreign influence related inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Assist with researching foreign influence related topics and regulation changes. Assist in the development and delivery of training and guidance on foreign influence, federal sponsor disclosure standards, insider threat awareness, and controlled-unclassified research requirements. Assist with recordkeeping of the program’s documents and work within a team environment. Oversee the compliance of research security training for the campus. Handle routine correspondence. Schedule events and meetings for the Director of Research Security.
