Graduate Student Support

The Nina and Vinod Rathore Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Scholarship will provide support for graduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Students who are eligible to apply for and receive this Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

A. Be enrolled full-time as a graduate student pursing a M.S. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as defined by Stony Brook policy.
B. Demonstrate high academic achievement as defined by Stony Brook policy. First year graduate students must have high academic achievement after their first semester in order to qualify. 

For graduate students who receive other donor-funded scholarships or other institutional support (such as tuition waivers), this Scholarship may be used to support non-tuition expenses as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, so long as it does not exceed the recipient's total cost of attendance. Non-tuition expenses typically include room and board, insurance, student fees, travel, books and supplies, personal expenses or other common non-tuition expenses as determined by The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services.

A recipient may forfeit the Scholarship if in any given year he or she:

A. Is not enrolled full-time as defined by Stony Brook policy.
B. Fails to remain in high academic standing as defined by Stony Brook policy.
C. Is found guilty of academic dishonesty and/or violates Stony Brook's Code of Conduct.
D. Fails to continue to meet the other criteria listed in Section Ill. Purpose.

Terms of Selection and Disbursement:

The recipient(s) are to be selected as follows:

A. In accordance with the criteria as outlined in Section Ill. Purpose, qualifying recipient(s) for the Scholarship covered by this agreement will be chosen by a selection committee of at least three Stony Brook University professionals, comprised of faculty and staff members in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and/or the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services will use its knowledge of student financials to assist the Selection Committee in choosing the  recipient(s) when appropriate.
B. Scholarship disbursements for the academic year will be made each semester in the fall and/or spring semesters directly to the Bursar to credit to the recipient's student account after the 100% tuition liability period (typically 4 weeks after the semester begins). Summer session or other special scholarships will be made to the Bursar to credit the recipient's student account also after the 100% tuition liability period. Recipients will be evaluated for continuation of funds prior to each semester to ensure the qualifications of the scholarship are still being met. If the qualifications of the scholarship are not being met it will result in a termination of scholarship funds.
