AMEC Summer 2026 Short Course Series
The Atlantic Marine Energy Center (AMEC) is launching the 2026 Marine Energy Short Course Series. Stony Brook University
is one of four partner institutions in this center, and Civil Engineering faculty
Rigoberto Burgueño, Paolo Celli, Ali Khosronejad and Wei Li will be involved in delivering these courses. Course participation for accepted students is fully funded.
Course 1
Introduction to Marine Energy takes place June 1-5 at the Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese, NC. This course is designed for students from a range of backgrounds.
It covers the fundamentals of marine energy through lectures, lab work, projects,
and field trips. (Apply by January 31)
Course 2
Marine Energy Structures, Materials, and Foundation Systems runs June 22-26 at Stony Brook University, Long Island, NY. This is a graduate-level course and requires background knowledge
in marine energy, engineering, and other technical skills. (Apply by February 14)
Course 3
Tidal & Water Current Energy Conversion closes out the series August 10-14 at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. This is also a graduate-level course and requires background knowledge
in marine energy, engineering, and other technical skills. (Apply by March 31)
These courses will give participants the opportunity to learn about marine energy,
but also to collaborate with peers, learn from industry and academic leaders, and
contribute to solving real challenges in marine energy.
