Thomas Benincase is a multidisciplinary artist and MFA candidate/instructor at Stony Brook University, working at the intersection of conceptual and technology-based art. His practice centers on the visual and sonic exploration of time, distance, and media history, often reimagining video and sound through experimental processes. Thomas investigates how a structural environment's interior sound energy can exceed its containment and lead to its translocation, influencing exterior spaces. Beyond these material concerns, Thomas critically examines nostalgia by purposely reconfiguring and distorting historical visual and auditory materials, purposely defying expected coherence and consistency.
