Huck Montgomery
Huck is Director of Policy & Strategy at National Grid, where he leads a team focused
on developing and enacting policy frameworks to enable a just and equitable clean
energy transition. Huck is an expert on decarbonization policy, greenhouse gas accounting
policy, and gas network transformation. He serves as the policy strategy lead for
the Company’s New York Gas Long Term Plan and works on climate and emissions policy
and regulatory strategy across New York and Massachusetts.
Before joining National Grid, Huck led the East Region Government Affairs team at Liberty Utilities, where he partnered with community leaders and policymakers to advance clean power infrastructure deployment, energy storage, and gas network decarbonization through innovative new public policies. Before his career in energy policy Huck spent a decade running progressive campaigns, starting out as a field organizer on the Obama campaign in 2008. He was campaign manager and senior advisor to campaigns for Congress, Governor, state and local office, and led advocacy campaigns for clean energy, labor, and voting rights as President of GraniteRoots Public Solutions, a public affairs consulting firm.
He lives in Concord, New Hampshire with his wife, Kayla, and children Beau and Lina.
