David Hamilton is the Senior Director of Corporate Engagement in Stony Brook University's Office of Research & Innovation. In this role, he is responsible for developing and executing strategies that foster and strengthen industry partnerships in support of the university’s research and innovation goals.
David has held multiple senior leadership positions within the Office of Innovation, including serving as Center Director for the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC), the Center for Integrated Electric Energy Systems (CIEES), now known as the Center for Grid Innovation Development and Deployment (GrIDD), the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR), and the Manufacturing and Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC), now known as the Long Island Manufacturing Extension Program (LIMEP).
As the former Executive Director of the virtual Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP), David brings extensive experience to the AERTC Industry & Executive Advisory Board.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson University and an MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University. His expertise spans advanced energy technologies, business development, engineering technologies commercialization, marketing, and sales. He is also known for his ability to effectively mentor early-stage entrepreneurs in the clean energy sector.
Mr. Hamilton began his professional career at the Long Island Lighting Company, where he managed relationships with independent power producers. His diverse career includes contributing to the design and implementation of terrestrial transmitters for Sirius Satellite Radio, developing sales and marketing strategies for aerospace and IT companies, managing hydrogen fuel cell operations for Plug Power, and leading commercial sales and marketing efforts for EmPower Solar, a leading solar energy provider on Long Island.
