Robert B. Catell

Robert B. Catell is a nationally recognized energy industry leader and business executive with extensive experience in energy, infrastructure, economic development, and corporate governance. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) at Stony Brook University, where he continues to play a leadership role in advancing innovation and the development of next-generation energy technologies.

Mr. Catell is also Chair Emeritus of Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School and serves on the boards of numerous organizations spanning energy, technology, healthcare, education, economic development, and civic leadership. His current board affiliations include the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, Futures in Education Endowment Fund, Long Island Angel Network, Long Island Association (LIA), National Petroleum Council, Our Energy Policy, and St. Francis Hospital Foundation.

Mr.Catell previously served as Chairman of the National Offshore Wind Research & Development Consortium, helping advance research and innovation in the emerging U.S. offshore wind industry.

He has held numerous prominent leadership positions throughout his career, including Chairman of the Long Island Association, Partnership for New York City, American Gas Association, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Energy Association, New York State Smart Grid Consortium, KEYERA Energy Management Ltd., and the Advisory Board of the City College of New York’s School of Engineering.

Mr. Catell's career in the energy industry includes serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KeySpan Corporation and KeySpan Energy Delivery, formerly Brooklyn Union. Following National Grid's acquisition of KeySpan Corporation, he became Chairman of National Grid, U.S. His career with Brooklyn Union began in 1958, marking the start of more than six decades of leadership and service in the energy industry.

Mr. Catell earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The City College of New York and is a Registered Professional Engineer.
