Ernest Schirmer is the lead engineer for the design of large-scale building technology infrastructure projects focusing on converged networking. Previous professional positions include senior engineer in the Technology Design Group of Vanderweil Engineers; Director of Technology Consulting with Acentech, Inc. and Managing Director of Acentech's Trevose, PA office. Prior to joining Acentech, Mr. Schirmer was Vice President and Principal of Technology Consulting with Syska Hennessy Group consulting engineers in New York City; Director of IT Infrastructure Design for CUH2A, an architectural and engineering firm with headquarters in Princeton, NJ and a Senior Associate with the international consulting firm of Shen Milsom and Wilke Inc. in New York City.

Mr. Schirmer earned his MBA in Information Systems from Binghamton University and holds degrees in economics, business administration and electrical engineering technology. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); vice-president of education for the Association of Information Technologies (AIT-Global); former chair of the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) Task Force 1 on intelligent buildings systems; an InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist; holds BICSI Registered Cable Distribution Designer (RCDD), Network Transport Systems (NTS) and Wireless Design certifications; and serves on the TIA standards committee for the design of smart building technologies for places of public assembly. Mr. Schirmer was granted a patent that was assigned to General Electric. He is a frequent speaker at industry functions and has authored articles for a number of trade publications.
