  Residents will have access to a dedicated team that includes 2 Residence Directors (RHDs), 12 Resident Assistants (RAs), and an Area Office Manager (AOM).

• What type of buildings does Seawolves Village have?

  Five buildings are fully residential, while two feature a mix of residential spaces and essential amenities on the lower levels, making it easy for students to access everything they need within the community.

  • Climate-controlled housing for year-round comfort.

  • Two student lounges, designed for relaxation, socializing, or studying.

  Each residential floor houses 39 residents and includes:

  • 1 single room for the RA

  Seawolves Village will serve as home to a diverse and engaged group of returning students, fostering a strong sense of community.

• Are there any ADA-compliant rooms?

  Some bedrooms in Seawolves Village will meet ADA standards, and each floor will have an ADA-accessible shower stall and toilet.

• What safety measures are in place at Seawolves Village?
  The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. Seawolves Village employs the same high-level security measures as other campus residences, including Lenel access control systems and security cameras strategically placed throughout the community. These features ensure that residents can enjoy peace of mind while living, studying, and engaging with their peers.
• What is pre-fabricated housing?
  The prefabricated housing at Seawolves Village is constructed in sections within an indoor manufacturing facility before being transported to the site for assembly. Each unit is pre-built with walls, ceilings, floors, windows, and roofing, ensuring a high level of quality and efficiency in the construction process. Once assembled on-site, the buildings will be finished with Wolf Baltic Blue vinyl siding, a premium material that replicates the appearance of traditional clapboard siding, similar to the renovated Chapin Housing units.
• How does pre-fabricated construction differ from traditional construction?
  The prefabricated housing at Seawolves Village is constructed in a climate-controlled facility, ensuring a consistent and efficient building process. This method offers superior construction quality while reducing overall build time, as there are no weather-related delays. The accelerated construction timeline also leads to cost savings, making it a highly efficient and effective approach to housing development.
• Is Seawolves Village permanent housing?
  Yes, this housing is being built as a permanent addition to campus. The approval and permitting process for Seawolves Village is even more rigorous than that of traditional site-built construction. These buildings will have engineered foundations and permanent connections to Stony Brook University’s utility infrastructure, including water, sewer, IT data, and electricity. Additionally, the site features a stormwater management system designed to handle extreme weather events.
