SBDC Helps Launch "The Branded Bun" Kolache Food Truck

While exploring retirement business options, Bruce and Lynda discovered Kolaches and became immediately interested. They visited the “Kolache Trail” in Austin, Texas, and immersed themselves in authentic flavors and techniques. Returning to New York inspired and determined, they set out to bring the Kolache dream to life. A kolache is a type of Czech-Texas dough, sweet or savory, and comes in many varieties, each with its own unique filling. 

The SBDC clients have started a successful food truck business, The Branded Bun, serving freshly made Kolaches. SBDC Senior Business Advisor Gifty Ostrander provided key startup guidance and market research to assist with the launch of the business. 

The food truck is located at the Student Activity Center on the Stony Brook University campus every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm.
