Resolution for Awarding the University Medal to Joe Nathan


A 1997 graduate of Stony Brook, you led Stony Brook in its first-ever national ranking in baseball. A two time academic All American, you also graduated as a member of the Golden Key Honor Society.

Since graduating Stony Brook, you have distinguished yourself as one of the premier pitchers in Major League Baseball. As a closer, you are among the league leaders in games saved and earned run average.

Your reputation has helped bring recognition to Stony Brook University and its NCAA Division I athletics program.  Therefore, Stony Brook University proudly confers on you, Joseph Nathan, its University Medal, the highest form of recognition conferred by the University.
