 Historical NoteAIM USA was founded in 1972, comprising of four companies as an arm of the Materials
                                 Handling Institute. In 1986, it became a separate entity with 85 member companies.
                                 AIM USA is an association of companies that provide leadership and focus on the Automatic
                                 Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. The companies produce a range of
                                 AIDC systems and equipment including bar codes, magnetic stripe, radio frequency,
                                 optical character recognition, and voice recognition technology. The organization
                                 also provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information relating to Automated
                                 Data Capture, promotes the industry through educational programs and conferences,
                                 and develops technical standards for the industry.
