Bienvendidos al museo/Welcome to the Museum:

QUEER PERSPECTIVES & DECOLONIAL AESTHETICS
with Gad Yola "Travesti del Perú"

This 1-credit independent study course, open to undergrad and grad students, will accompany the two-week residency of Madrid-based, Afro-Peruvian, multidisciplinary drag artist GAD YOLA.

Using  "Bienvenidos al museo" (a song from Gad's album Travesti del Perú) as reference, students will engage in critical and creative workshops exploring video editing as an aesthetic and political practice. Through technical training, collaborative creation, and public presentation, the class will produce a video installation that will reminagine campus through a queer, migrant, and Latin American perspective.

Students will engage with readings and assignments tied to their major or area of focus both before and after the shared workshops, which will be held during the weeks of March 23th and March 30th.

Prior video editing experience NOT required.
