Patricia María Gamboa
Lecturer

                  Patricia María Gamboa is Lecturer of Spanish in the department of Hispanic Languages
                        and Literature at Stony Brook University. She completed her Ph.D. at the University
                        of Kentucky, where she specialized in 19th and 20th centuries Peninsular Literature. Her research, which received the Myrle E. and Verle
                        D. Nietzel Visiting Distinguished Faculty Award, analyzes the existential implications
                        of the fantastic narrative by Galician author Álvaro Cunqueiro (1911-1981). Her area
                        of research also includes gender studies and pedagogy.
                  Dr. María-Gamboa graduated in Philosophy from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid,
                        Spain, from where she also received a Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Philosophy
                        and a Master’s Degree in Teaching Secondary Education.
                  Before coming to Stony Brook, she was a Lecturer in Spanish at the University of North
                        Georgia in 2019-2023.
