Award Adjustments

As notified in the Financial Aid Terms & Conditions, you may receive an award adjustment notification during the academic year. While some cases may be notifying you of additional eligibility, there are circumstances where your aid may be reduced or cancelled. Please review the list below for the most common reasons why you may see an adjustment in your financial aid award package. 

• Change In Enrollment
  Financial aid award packages are typically posted for an academic year (fall and spring). If your enrollment changes (adding or cancelling/withdrawing from courses) after your financial aid award package is posted to SOLAR, you may see a change in some of your awards.  Visit our Enrollment & Your Aid page for more information on enrollment requirements for each type of award. 
• Change In Academic Career or Program
  Certain grants and scholarships require students to remain in a specific academic career or program to remain eligible for the funds. Review the terms and conditions of your award(s) on SOLAR to determine if you need to meet this requirement. 
• Updated FAFSA Data
   Your federal aid  is based upon the information you submit on your FAFSA.  If you submit any FAFSA corrections, our office will review the updated application  to see if it impacted the value of your awards.  If your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) changed, it may change the value of your need based aid, such as a Pell Grant and/or subsidized loan eligibility. 
• Verification
   You may have been selected for the Federal Verification process.  Verification ensures the accuracy of data used to establish eligibility for need-based federal student aid. Your FAFSA application and awards may be adjusted upon our review of the required verification documentation requested on your SOLAR To Do List. 
• Budget/Cost of Attendance Change
   Your financial aid awards cannot exceed your total cost of attendance. Your cost of attendance is based upon your direct charges (driven by your enrollment) and indirect charges.  You can view the precise cost of attendance associated with your financial aid by logging into  SOLAR and navigating to View & Accept/Decline FinAid, and then clicking the link titled "Costs and Aid Eligibility".

  If you feel that you have exceptional expenses that exceed the cost of attendance estimate you may request that the financial aid office review your budget to assess whether an adjustment is warranted by completing a  Budget Increase Request Form.

• Grade Level Change
   Undergraduate student loan limits range from $5,500 to $12,500 per year depending on certain factors, including the student's year in college and other aid received.
• No Longer Meeting Award Requirement(s)
   To review requirements for each of your awards (ie: GPA, enrollment) , click on the "Award Detail" link in SOLAR.
• Other Award(s) Posted
   You may receive an email from us notifying you that an award was added to your package after your initial offer.
• Revised Eligibility
   Your award amount may have changed as a result of updated information on your application  and/or review from an outside department or agency. For example, HESC determines award amounts for TAP which may be revised based upon their income verification review.
