Accelerated BE/MS Program Path

Welcome to the Accelerated BE/MS Program. Here are the major milestones for you to pass on your way from the undergraduate to the graduate program. Links to required forms are provided with important time stamps and notes where they apply.

 

Permission to Enroll in Grad Courses

3 Weeks Prior to Grad Course Registration 

Students must obtain permission first from CIV and then from the Grad School before registering for grad courses. Please note that students may elect to take all 6 credits of MS coursework in one semester, although it is not recommended.

Step 1 - CIV Approval: Download and fill PDF form

Email to  Department/Grad Staff Assistant Malina Salman at malina.salman@stonybrook.edu

Step 2 - Graduate School Approval: Fill and submit Grad School's Google Form

 

Apply to MS Program

April of Senior Year or Later

  1. Minimum GPA Requirement: The Graduate School requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the end of a student's senior year to matriculate into the graduate program.
  2. Application for MS program: Students intending to advance to the MS program must apply for admission to the Graduate School. This application typically occurs at the beginning of the fifth year. You must complete an Application Form to Graduate School for the Accelerated Bachelors/Masters Degree. 

Applications are processed in the order they are received. You should expect a response from Grad School no later than the end of June.

Welcome to the MS Program!

Upon Formal Admission

As a new graduate student, you will follow all new student instructions on the MS Program Path. Attendance at Graduate School and Department orientations is required.
