BS Psychology and Sociology
Minor in Biology
Summa
Where are you originally from?
Jakarta, Indonesia
On her major:
I started with psychology because I loved the idea of learning more about the individual mind, understanding why people behave the way they do, and learning how to provide therapy and support for others. Then I fell in love with sociology, which offered a different perspective on how the world works through systems, structures and social environments. I’ve always been passionate about helping people and I think these two majors complement each other in a way that provides a more holistic understanding of how individuals function in the society they live in. I find that incredibly meaningful because it will help me better understand and support others.
What degree are you graduating with?
Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology double major.
Interests and accomplishments:
My current interests are in mental healthcare, particularly the clinical side such as providing therapy and direct support to clients. Recently, I’ve also become more interested in the policy side of mental healthcare and advocacy work. I’m especially interested in how mental health systems can better support people beyond treatment itself, particularly during the transition back into everyday life after higher levels of care. I want to explore how programs, community resources and policies can better support long-term recovery, stability and quality of life for both clients and mental health professionals.
Accomplishments:
- You Are Welcome Here scholar
- Global Excellence Program Scholarship
- Dean’s List

Plans for post-graduation:
After graduation, I will be pursuing a Master of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I plan to pursue the Mental Health concentration alongside a policy specialization to further expand my studies and interests. I’m very excited to begin this new chapter, explore a new city and take on new adventures!
Advice for future Seawolves?
Remember that you are running your own race. It’s really easy to compare yourself to everyone around you, especially in college, but everyone is on their own path, so focus on doing your best and growing at your own pace. Use your time here to explore everything you are interested in, even if it feels random at first. Put yourself out there, take chances and make memories you’ll cherish looking back on. Most importantly, appreciate the people who genuinely pour into you and keep them close throughout your journey.
Favorite SBU memory:
The hangouts, the late-night talks over greasy fast food and just always being there to support one another. I’ll also never forget doing the Roth Regatta with my Psychology Student Alliance E-board.
