Susan Palmer
Financial Advisor, Morgan Stanley
Alumna Susan Palmer, BA Sociology, minor in Anthropology, is a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley; she shared that “The Study of Man” has served her well during her decades-long career on Wall Street! Palmer began her career at E F Hutton in a training program, and remained there through many mergers and acquisitions.
Palmer was part of Morgan Stanley’s inaugural Women’s Advisory Council, serving as the first president, which afforded her the ability to structure the board’s governance and to brand their initiative, LIFT. The initiative’s mission was to “LIFT” all women, both internally and externally, through advocacy and mentorship, providing them the support needed to succeed. In addition, Palmer is a member of the North Fork Business Advisory Board, the goal of which is to bring students and local businesses together through job shadowing, mentorships, internships, and various other opportunities to learn about career paths. She previously served as treasurer on the Mattituck Laurel Library Board; as vice president of the Mattituck Laurel Civic Association; and commodore of the Mattituck Yacht Club.
Palmer and her husband, Carll Austin, live on the North Fork of Long Island where they raised their children, Charles, Chris, Clay, and Caty. Her other interests include sailing and skiing with her family and enjoying her home on the Peconic Bay.
