Celebrating Our Outstanding Class of 2025

2025 Graduate Highlight Story

Eva Genovese - Marketing

Eva Genovese Headshot

The College of Business is proud to recognize Eva Genovese as a Business Honors Program honoree—an accomplished scholar whose academic journey has uniquely blended the worlds of business, research, and creative writing.

Eva is completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Management, specializing in Marketing, along with a second major in Creative Writing and Literature. Her work reflects a passion for storytelling, a commitment to research, and a drive to create impact across industries.

Eva’s Business Honors capstone project, “Understanding How Authors of Children’s Books about Money See Their Books as Vehicles to Promote Financial Literacy,” was conducted under the mentorship of Professor Margaret Echelbarger. Through this research, Eva explored how authors perceive their work as tools for education and empowerment. With funding from the Jane & Armando Janelli-URECA Award and a URECA mini grant, she expanded her project by designing and administering a second survey focused on parental motivations for purchasing financial literacy books for children. She recently presented her findings at the URECA Celebration, and plans to continue this work post-graduation.

Eva’s academic curiosity doesn't end there. Through the Creative Writing Department, she completed a second thesis project—a full-length novella titled When Sisters Align, crafted with guidance from Genevieve Sly Crane and Marissa Levien. The story blends horror, fantasy, and historical fiction, exploring the emotional complexity of sisterhood, early adulthood, and the supernatural.

Beyond the classroom, Eva served as Editor-in-Chief of the Sandpiper Review—the Creative Writing department’s literary magazine—from August 2024 to May 2025. Under her leadership, the publication continued its mission to support and spotlight emerging student voices. The 4th Issue of the Sandpiper Review is now available on the club’s website for those interested in the vibrant work of Stony Brook’s young writers and artists.

Eva credits her success to the support of those closest to her:

“I would like to thank my devoted friends and family for always encouraging me to pursue my passions across disciplines.”

Please join us in congratulating Eva Genovese—a thoughtful leader, passionate storyteller, and proud 2025 Business Honors Program graduate.
