Throughout February, University offices, departments, student clubs and organizations will host a variety of activities to celebrate and honor African American/ Black heritage.

To have  Black History Month-related events highlighted on the BHM website, please utilize SBEngaged. 

Remember to select the Black History Month category to automatically have your event included on the BHM Calendar page.

In February, Stony Brook University will honor the culture and historical contributions of the Pan-African community, through educational and cultural activities reflecting the theme: African Americans and Labor. 

The Black History Month tradition is designed to increase awareness about the historical legacy of the African American/Black experience in the struggle for equality, inclusion, social change, and social justice.

Closing Celebration

Join us in celebrating the many activities that has taken place during Black History Month this year.  The Office of Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement (DICE), invites you to the Black History Month Closing Celebration featuring Influencer and Comedian, Whitney Davis '12.

This is a free community event open to all faculty, staff and students.
