                              will host a variety of activities to celebrate and honor African American/ Black heritage.

                        In February, Stony Brook University will honor the culture and historical contributions
                                 of the Pan-African community, through educational and cultural activities reflecting
                                 the theme: African Americans and Labor. 
The Black History Month tradition is designed to increase awareness about the historical
                                 legacy of the African American/Black experience in the struggle for equality, inclusion,
                                 social change, and social justice.

Black History Month is coordinated by Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement,
                                 Department of Africana Studies, and the Black History Month Committee.

Closing Celebration

Join us in celebrating the many activities that has taken place during Black History
                                 Month this year.  The Office of Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement
                                 (DICE), invites you to the Black History Month Closing Celebration featuring Influencer
                                 and Comedian, Whitney Davis '12.
This is a free community event open to all faculty, staff and students.
