Hong Li Snyder earned her Ph.D. in World History from Jinan University, her LL.M. in Economic Law from Jilin University, and her MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has extensive teaching experience across all age groups—from preschool to college—and specializes in Chinese language instruction, curriculum development, and program leadership. Her students, including those with no prior exposure to Chinese, have successfully passed multiple levels of the HSK, China’s standardized test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers. Her courses are enriched by her deep cultural knowledge, making them both rigorous and engaging.

In addition to teaching, Hong has contributed to international cultural exchange through translation and publication. She translated sixteen foreign-language children’s books into Chinese (2013), published by Beijing Higher Education Press, and authored two books on Chinese festivals with Shandong Friendship Press (2019). She also founded the Mandarin program at Harbor Country Day School, where she established an HSK Center and served as a certified HSK Level-A examiner. Since 2016, she has served as Vice President of the China Blue Summer Program at WUSB (FM 90.1), Stony Brook University.
