Switched Source

Charles Murray is President and Co-Founder of Switched Source. Charlie comes from an independent power producer background at Invenergy, where he developed utility-scale solar, wind and natural gas electricity generation projects in the US as well as Central and South America. Charlie also has experience developing the largest fleet of energy storage projects in North America. Charlie earned his bachelor's and master's in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and is a professional engineer in the state of California.

Electric vehicles, energy storage, and distributed generation are poised to place tremendous stress on the traditional role of the utility as electricity delivery and service provider. The adoption of these technologies foreshadow the evolution of the current distribution grid into a system that behaves more like the transmission grid, with bi-directional flows of electricity and co-mingled generators and loads. New software platforms focus on controls and valuation of these new actors on the distribution system. All of these technologies are limited by the existing physical design of the distribution system. Switched Source provides hardware solutions to enable increased connectivity of the electrical grid, enhancing the utility's role as a platform service provider for energy transactions, while making the distribution grid more efficient and reliable.
