Northrop Grumman Corporation
Tom Vice is sector vice president and general manager, Battle Management and Engagement Systems Division, for Northrop Grumman Corporation's Aerospace Systems sector, a premier provider of manned and unmanned aircraft, space systems, missile systems and advanced technologies critical to our nation’s security.
The division is based in Bethpage, N.Y., and also has sites in Hollywood, Md.; Charleston, S.C.; Warner Robins, Ga.; and Melbourne, St. Augustine, and Niceville, Fla. In addition, smaller sites are located across the country and at military installations around the world.
Vice leads programs in airborne early warning, airborne ground surveillance, electronic warfare, maritime systems integration, broad area maritime surveillance and coastal warfare, airborne mine countermeasures, and battle management systems to support our military on the sea, the ground, and in the air. Key programs include the E-2C, E-2D, RQ-4n (BAMS), NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance, E-8C Joint STARS, EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler. The division also works on a number of advanced development programs that offer innovative future solutions to meet emerging customer needs.
Most recently, Vice served as sector vice president for the former Integrated Systems sector’s Eastern Region, and before that as vice president, Airborne Early Warning and Battle Management Command and Control - Navy programs, also at the former Integrated Systems sector. He also served as sector vice president, Business Development; sector vice president, Operations; sector vice president, Materiel; and vice president, Business and Advanced Systems Development for the sector’s Air Combat Systems business area.
He joined Northrop Grumman as an engineer on the B-2 program in 1986 and was later named the business unit’s information technology manager and then manager of B-2 program operations and asset integration. He also served as manager of customer requirements and the B-2 business development manager for the multi-stage improvement program.
Vice received his bachelor of science in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California. He has completed numerous advanced management programs, including the Advanced Program Management course at the Defense Systems Management College; Strategic Marketing of Technology Products and Management of Technology and Innovation programs -- both at the California Institute of Technology; Executive Marketing at the UCLA Anderson School and the Corporate Strategy Management Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
An active member of the community, Vice is a board trustee for the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla. and chairman of the Applied Science Center of Innovation and Excellence in Homeland Security, N.Y. He is also a board member for the Long Island Association, N.Y., as well as, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne, Fla.
