     On behalf of our partners National Grid, LIPA and Stony Brook University, it gives us great pleasure to formally invite you to the 2008 Advanced Energy Conference, "Solutions to a Global Crisis." The conference will be held on November 19th and 20th at the Hyatt Regency Windwatch Hotel in Hauppauge. Our conference committee has done a truly remarkable job of putting together a conference comprising a large number of the country's most knowledgeable and influential energy experts.

Press Note: There will be a press conference at 11 AM on Thursday November 19th featuring Bob Catell, Chairman of National Grid and Co-Chair of the Advanced Energy Center, Shirley Strum Kenny, President of Stony Brook University and Co-Chair of the Advanced Energy Center, Paul DeCotis, Energy Secretary to the Governor, Kevin S. Law, President and CEO of LIPA, Yacov Shamash, VP of Economic Development and Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Stony Brook University, Dr. Hubert Keene, President of Farmingdale College, Bob Callender, Acting President of NYSERDA, Ed Reinfurt, Executive Director of NYSTAR, Tom DiNapoli Comptroller for New York State, Senator Ken LaValle, Senator John Flanagan and many others. After the press conference, we invite all reporters to stay for lunch and listen to some of the keynote speakers.

     Representatives from global companies such as IBM, BASF, General Motors, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Philips Corporation, all of whom have a sizable stake in the development of alternative energy sources, will also be participating. Some of the finest research institutions in the world will also be represented including Brookhaven National Laboratory, Los Alamos, Sandia, Columbia University, Stony Brook University, Farmingdale State College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Polytechnic Institute of NYU and the Imperial College of London.

     Additionally, high tech alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles will be on display including a Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle, (CNG), two hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles from General Motors, and a plug in hybrid suppled by LIPA and Odyne.
