Bipolar Plate Technology To develop bipolar plate technology for next-generation fuels cells. The approach is to reduce contact resistance by using nanosized coatings. The project utilizes spectroscopy to evaluate Surface properties. Ultra-Pure Hydrogen Production. Fuel cells require ultra-pure Hz to prolong the life of the PI catalyst. We have developed a patented technology that utilizes a Ru catalyst operating at a low temperature (T < 150'C) to produce ultra-pure Hz from a gas mixture from a typical steam reformer. (DOE)
