Thermal Spray Center for Fuel Cells and Engines

Our National Science Foundation Center (NSF) Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) for Thermal Spray Research engages in the melt spray production of thick protective coatings and spray-formed, high-performance engineered components. GE is intimately involved in the Center's work on process reliability of thermal barrier coatings which is crucial for some of the strategies in Ecoimagination, especially low NOX engines. GE Energy, GE Transportation and GE Global are the most active participants in the Center's Consortium of Industrial Companies. The Center's work is also important consideration for GE fuel cell program. (NSF)
