Dr. Carolyn Heeps

Consultant

DONG Energy, RES Americas

Dr Carolyn Heeps works for RES Americas (RES) and recently relocated to Boston, MA to work as a full time consultant on the DONG Energy team, providing permitting and stakeholder engagement services to support DONG's entrance into the US market. Carolyn has been involved in the offshore wind industry since 2001, when she joined The Crown Estate (the owner of the UK seabed) as Environmental Policy Manager, and as part of that role she managed the first two offshore wind leasing rounds in UK waters. On leaving The Crown Estate, Carolyn worked with Fred Olsen Renewables on UK commercial scale projects, before joining Renewable Energy Systems (the RES Group) to develop their interests in global markets, including the USA and Asia Pacific market. It is through this work, and the close working relationship between RES and DONG Energy that she has become part of the DONG Energy project team in the US.

Prior to joining the offshore wind energy and marine renewables sector Carolyn enjoyed a rewarding academic career, running the first Masters Program in Coastal Zone Management in Europe. Her PhD is in coastal processes, nearshore sediment dynamics and seabed mapping.
