State of Play: National Energy Policy

Abstract: The vacillating support for several important energy policy initiatives by the federal government has direct bearing on individual states?ability to effectively implement their own energy priorities, and leaves industry with unclear or little guidance on how to respond to changing policy priorities. These include state energy programs, carbon mitigation strategies, energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives, and transmission infrastructure projects, to name a few. This presentation will review critical initiatives impacted by such inconsistencies and discuss how industry, government, and academia in many instances have collaborated to advance critical initiatives in the absence of consistent national policy.
