Student Activities Center Building Highlights

Located in the heart of the Academic Mall, the Student Activities Center (SAC) serves as the focal point of the University and is a popular gathering place for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and campus visitors. Events at the SAC include lectures, conferences, movies, concerts and annual recognition ceremonies which bring together all members of the Stony Brook Community. The SAC has many amenities including wireless internet, ATMs, a bank, a food court, gender neutral bathrooms, and a Dunkin’ and Dunkin’ Express. The SAC exceeds ADA standards by offering multiple wheelchair access points and all of our spaces are wheelchair accessible.

Building Highlights: 

  • Features two glass atriums bringing in natural light
  • Four levels dedicated to student-centric spaces
  • Main Lobby featuring high ceilings, powered seating, a Dunkin Express and an information desk
  • Two ballrooms, measuring 7,000 square feet and 2,750 square feet, which are built to host some of the largest events on campus
  • The second largest Auditorium on campus, seating nearly 600, with a large stage and high ceilings
  • Audio visual capabilities in all programming spaces, featuring hideaway screens, projection and house speakers. 
  • Variety of conference and meeting rooms on the third floor, with Zoom functionality in the two largest rooms
  • Conveniently located bank branch, along with two ATMs
  • Food court delivers plenty of dining options for dining options, including those with dietary restrictions
  • The SAC Market has grab and go food options, as well as a Dunkin’ and Craft Salads and Bowls
  • Dedicated lactation room available to faculty, staff and students
  • Newly renovated multipurpose lounge space, featuring variable seating and a bar option, perfect for mixers and happy hours!

  • Rehearsal space for student clubs and organizations

  • Newly renovated Graduate Student Lounge with comfortable seating and plenty of natural light

  • Veteran Student Services located on the second floor, featuring a lounge to connect with the community
